Lets open up Vue. My display is as per below, screen resolution of 1280x960. The pics are resized for this tutorial.
The display options can be found in Menu/Options/Display options.
Step 2
Lets create a new scene. This can be done by Menu/File/New
or
By clicking on the symbol at the top left.
This will bring up a dialogue box asking for what sort of atmosphere you want for your scene.
Step 3
Introduction to the interface.
Main Canera View
Objects can be terrain/Lights/Camera/Trees/Poser objects/View models (VOB) or imported models.
When you select an object in your scene, by clicking on it or via the scene object palette, the atributes for that object are displayed in the atributes window.
Notice view scenes can have layers - just like PSP except these layers can hold view objects and can be hidden during scene creation.
See Page 29 of your manual for a complete description.
Step 4
Here is a 4 panel view caused by pressing F7 or the ikon at the below the menus.
The views are (1) Top (2) Side (3) Front and (4) Main camera.
There are only 3 items in our scene (not counting the atmosphere) (1) Sun (2) ground and (3) Camera.
Step 5
Lets create a landscape. We will start by creating a terraine.
This can be done by clicking on the terrain icon on the left or via the Menu/ Objects/Create/Standard Terrain.
Notice how some icons have a little black triangle on the bottom right - clicking and holding onm this will bring up more options and Vue will remember your last choice
After creating an object we usually want to drop it onto the the object below. This is done by clicking on the "drop" icon on the bottom left hand side of the screen.
Notice now how the Attributes, Preview and Scene opbjects library have been updated.
If the Preview hasn't updated you can update it by left clicking on it or set it to Auto update by right clicking on it and selecting auto update.
Step 6
Lets do something with the object - When a terrain is creted it comes in with the last material that was used.
or the default material.
We can select an object bt (1) clicking on it in any window (2) select it in our scene object library.
The Object Pallette can have a numer of functions depending upon which of the top 3 icons has been selected.
(1) the Paint tube is usually textures - or light controls in the case of lights you have created.
(2) the "square" tool is for object postion/rotation and size (it allow numerical entry)
(3) The boxes are for animation/point at and tracking controls.
You can also move/resize objects directly by selecting them in a window and moving or resizing with you mouse
Also you can rotate as well by use of the Roate icon in the active window.
Here is the attributes window.
Step 7 (1)
Lets put a texture (Material) on our terraine.
(1) Select the Terraine
(2) Select the Paint icon in the object attributes window.
(3) Right click on the terrain "circle" in the object attributes window
(4) Select load a material
(5) this will bring up a material selection window select the material you want and (6) press ok.
The preview window and possibly your main windows will now change to show the material being applied.
Step 7 (2)
Here we have our terrain textured
Step 8
Lets resize our terrain.
To do this select the terrain in our side view and make it thinner (reduce the height)
