Introduction to P6 Procedural Materials.

  • Open up Poser and load in a decent lighting setup - You can't see what you are doing in the dark.
  • Load the V3 MFD and change all the material zones difuse colour to white (in the material room)
  • and Transparency to 0%
  • This stops any default colours/transaparencies influencing our texture
  • or you can use the White dress we saved from our previous tutorial.
Save the Poser file in case you want to use it latter for another project
  • This is the render setup I will be using
This is what we are aiming for.
Intro to the Material room (Advanced interface) These are the main material attributes
Lets plug in a "Velvet" node to alternate difuse by clicking on the "plug" and selecting the function.

Set the node parrameters as below.
Set up a Skin node for the Ambient Colour
Now lets put in some "grain" by adding a Marble nodee to "Bump" attribute.
Lets add some turbulence to the velvet colour - to give us some variation in the velvet colour
  • Now we can save our new mat but before we do....
  • Remove disconnected nodes (if any) by "Shift + Click (Remove disconnected nodes)"
  • This stops latter problems with your saved library.
  • Then you can add your material to your library for latter use.
Now lets apply our Material to all material zones of our dress.
  • Our dress now has this texture applied to all texture zonews of the dress
  • Before rendering you may like to make the body handles Transparent.
  • By making the body handles TRansparency (Edge) = 1.
  • Feedback on this tut would be appreciated.
  • Thanks for looking.
