P6 Intro to Animation 2

  • Prerequisets -
  • .... You know how to navigate library, load a character, set up a render and set document window size.
  • ..... This is covered in in this tut here.
Lets get set up by loading a figure - setting the light, camera and document window to 400x400
  • Lets animate her head to do a road crossing check
  • "look right, look left, look right again, cross safely" - This may vary dependng on what part of the world you live in.
  • So our animation will be like this
  • Frames 1-5 look ahead
  • Frames 6-10 turn head, and neck, to the right.
  • Frames 11-15 Hold it
  • Frames 16 -25 Turn head, and neck to theleft
  • Frames 25-30 Hold it
  • Frames 30 - 35 - Turn head and neck (quicly) to the right again.
  • Frames 36 - 40 - hold it
  • Frames 41- 45 Turn head and neck to front and cross the road.
  • .
  • (1) Set the maximun number of frames to 45
  • Move to Frame 5 and add a key frame (we will keep her head steady for 5 frames)
  • Now step to frame 10 and add a key frame (this where her head will stop turning right)
  • Adjust her head and neck to turn right - There are movement limits on this character's parts.
  • The pic belopw is a composite
  • Step to frame 15 and create an new keyframe - this keeps head looking right for 5 frames.
  • Step to frame 25 and create a new keyframe - now we are going to look to the left.
  • Adjust her head and neck to look left - like the pic below.
  • Step to frame 30 and add another keyframe - this will hold her head left for 5 frames.
  • Step to frame 35, add anothe keyframe and turn her head to the right again - This will move her head quickly back to the right
  • Step to frame 40 , add another keyframe - this will hold her head right for left for 5 frames.
  • Step to frame 45, add another keyframe and turn her head forward.
  • .
  • Lets get set up to do some rendering.
  • Set up our render dimensions
  • This doesn't appear to carry over into our movie settings.
  • So needs to be set up agin in our Movie settings.
  • Lets get set up to make our animation .
  • and
  • Image file sizes vary - This one is ~ 115KB/frame
  • Uncompresed AVI files are very large 10-30 MB second depending whats in the pic
  • Flash files are low quality however they are also very small - in this case 93KB
  • Exercise - Create a flash animation of a different character winking their left eye.
  • with an image size of 400x400
Thanks for looking and feedback is welcome, Richard.
