P6 Creating a character for beginners.

  • Open up Poser
  • Lets have a look at the interface
  • My Windows screen is normally 1280x960 , however for this tut it is 1024x768
  • You may want to move the camara back a bit to fit the figure into our document window.
  • Camera controls are on the left.
  • You may have a different character in the window. That is not a problem.
Lets get rid of the ground shadow in our document window.
Now lets get rid of the default character.

Navigate to James and load him into your scene we start by opening the librarys..
We can hide his genitals. Also stops "poke through" in some clothing items.
Lets bring some clothes into the scene.
  • Lets now put them on James.
  • We do this by confonforming his boxer conforming prop:
  • This is new to Poser 6
  • Make sure you have the boxers selected
and we want James to wear the boxers
Save your work as a Poser file: .Pz3
Now we will put some hair on James.
  • Save your work
  • Switch to the face camera so we can see what we have done.
  • You may wish to move it in or out to fill the frame.
  • Now lets attach the hair to James head by Parenting it. You always Parent a "Prop"
and
We want to put it on Jame's Head
  • Save your work
  • Now lets get set up for a render.
  • Open up your Parameter dials window. - This allows fine control over scene items.
  • This is how I have set up my face camera
  • the 70mm focal length improves perspective, just like the old portrait lenses.
  • The focal lenghts are similar to a 35MM film camera
  • Dolly Z is in and out of the scene.
  • Dolly Y is up and down
  • Dolly X is left and right.
  • Set up the render size
  • Be sure to "match document window" so the render looks like we see on the camaera.
Now set up our render options.
Here is what I use.
If you dont render now then it is "Ctrl+ R". Note: I have changed the default lights slightly.
This is the result, afrter a few minutes depending upm your PC.
Now lets save our immage
  • This is our exported .png against a layered gradient.
  • There is a lot more work to be done on this pic, maybe even a re-render with the lights/hair adjusted.
  • This tut is just to show the principals of putting a character together in Poser6
  • Thanks for looking
  • feedback welcome.
