P6 Texturing for beginners. Applying bitmaps to clothing and saving a character file.

  • First up we need somwhere to put our finished creation so we can use it again.
  • Use windows explorer to create a new library folder. Remenber everything is in your P6 Runtime
  • ... Runtime/Library/Character/Jessi/Jessi_ConfClothes (for her Conforming Clothes)
  • The pic below is a composite
  • You can't see what you are doing with the default lights so set up some good light
  • A decent render setting helps also.
  • This is what I am using.
Let's put a dirt texture on Jessie's Casual white Pants (conforming).
In the Material room we will bring in some bit maps to change the apperance of the pants.

Load in a "DirtyCanvasTexture" to the difuse colour Map - (The base colour of the object)

A quick render - We havn't changed any textures on the loops or buttons yet.
Now lets fix the loops and buttons - First the loops.
Next lets get rid of the buttons.
Now lets do a render - Note the pants have rotated for this render to show buttons have gone.
You may want to add a "bump" map to give our texture a more "grainy feel"
A render with the bump map applied.
Now lets save our new creation to our new libreary we set up before
Here are the new pants loaded in and conformed to jessie.
Feedback on this tut would be appreciated. Thanks for looking. Richard
