Safety.

  • Motor Racing is dangerous!
  • Be very alert .... especially in the pits.
  • In the pits stay out of peoples way.
  • Always obey officials.
  • Never put your self in danger - a photo is not worth it.
  • Be prepared to help if necessary (only have had to do that once, directly, with a fellow photographer)

These pros, from their reaction, thought the exploding dragster engine was a bit close

I wonder what the official was thinking.

 

Just one more thing... You may see and take photos of accidents where people don't walk away. In that case I don't normally publish them..... I have seen it twice and I don't want to see it again. Here is an example - to reinforce motor racing is dangerous.

Notice the cart still distintigrating and the driver lying on the ground. not moving.

One of the officials told us he saw the drivers leg move as he was lifted into the ambulance.

They let him out of hospital next day.
